The first time I encountered Čmelák was at Jára Svoboda's course (I guess it was about design of eco-garden community). Due to the focus of the course, he was talking especially about how Čmelák offered quality and hard-to-find original tree species for sale. He also mentioned the New Virgin Forest project. I checked out their website and became very interested in the fact that there is an organization in our region that cares about the nature in a, let's say, traditional and inteligent way. I really liked that quite provocative idea of creating a virgin forest as well... I feel that relations to future generations are generally greatly missing in today's society. Everything is being planned only for the present, maximally for the nearest future and suddenly somebody stops, buys a land and founds a virgin forest, which will actually become a real virgin forest in a period of a few generations for now... wow :) Then I went to the city and met a young guy in a T-shirt who asked me whether I wanted to contribute and it was all done. :) Apart from the fact I liked the idea and the overall approach of Čmelák to the nature I live in, I also realised that at this point I have time and a chance to do all I can to make the world around us (or let's say the Liberec region for the start) look the way I want, so at least I support people who do it for me for the present.
